What we do

Southcode Labs is a software research and engineering company building infrastructure for intelligent systems. We design, prototype, and ship the underlying components that let AI applications behave reliably in production — components that handle interaction, memory, reasoning, and orchestration at the level required by real-world deployments.

Our work spans applied research and production engineering. We build systems that need to actually run, not white papers describing how they might. At the same time, we treat the unsolved problems in our field as legitimate research questions, not obstacles to route around. The products we ship today and the questions we explore tomorrow inform each other continuously.

We are based in Florida and operate as a focused, bootstrapped team. Our work is published through our product brands and through the research notes available on this site.

Areas of focus

Real-time interaction

Systems that let intelligent agents interact with users naturally and at the latency required for production deployment. This includes voice and text interfaces, conversation state management, and the engineering required to make these layers reliable under real load.

Cognitive infrastructure

The persistent context, memory, and learning systems that let agents accumulate knowledge across sessions and channels. Most agents today start every conversation from zero. We're building the layers that change that.

Inference orchestration

Coordination layers that combine specialized open-source models to deliver high-quality results at structurally lower cost than monolithic frontier systems. Specialization, routing, and synthesis as engineering problems.

How we work

Our approach combines disciplined engineering practices with applied research methodology. We document our reasoning, validate our assumptions empirically, and ship work that we are willing to maintain ourselves.
